Greg Lucier

Executive Chairman

Greg Lucier founded Corza Medical in partnership with leading private equity firm GTCR to combine his 30+ years of life sciences leadership with GTCR’s unrivaled track record of creating unique, value-generating private equity opportunities. Greg most recently served as Chairman and CEO at NuVasive, a global technology leader in minimally invasive spine and orthopedic surgery. Prior to that, he was Chairman and CEO at Life Technologies—formerly Invitrogen—which he grew into a global life sciences powerhouse that was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific for more than $15 billion. He spent the first part of his career with the General Electric—including GE Healthcare—in a variety of corporate officer and executive roles. Greg serves on several public and private company boards, including Catalent, Dentsply Sirona, Berkley Lights, Maravai LifeSciences, and Epic Sciences. Greg holds a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Dan Croteau

Chief Executive Officer

Dan Croteau has been the CEO of Surgical Specialties for the last three years, and now brings over 30 years of leadership experience to Corza Medical, with the last 21 years in executive leadership roles in the medical device industry. Prior to Surgical Specialties, Dan was President and CEO of Vention Medical, a leading medical device contract manufacturer and product development company. During Dan’s tenure at Vention Medical, sales more than tripled through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth. Prior to Vention Medical, Dan was President of FlexMedical, the medical device and equipment division of FLEX, responsible for more than $1 Billion annually in sales with manufacturing plants and development centers in North and Central America, Europe and Asia. Dan also held roles at Accellent (now part of Integer) as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Orthopedic Division and in a previous role was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. Earlier in his career Dan spent several years with GE and the management consulting firm Booz & Company. Dan has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Vermont. Dan also serves as a director for UFP Technologies (Nasdaq UFPT) and two privately held companies, Resonetics and Inventus Power.

Matt Bastardi

Senior Vice President, General Manager Wound Closure & Americas Sales

Matt Bastardi has over 20 years of leadership experience in the medical device & diagnostics industry, having managed teams in sales, marketing, finance, operations, corporate development, and strategic planning. Prior to Corza Medical and Surgical Specialties, Matt was Senior Vice President, Corporate Development & Strategy for Accriva Diagnostics. Matt helped lead the transformation of Accriva Diagnostics resulting in the sale of the Company to Werfen. Earlier in his career, Matt was Vice President, Portfolio Management, Strategic Marketing & Business Development for Covidien. He started his career in M&A investment banking for Alex. Brown & Sons. Matt earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a B.S. from Georgetown University.

Mark Gardner

Senior Vice President, General Manager Biosurgery & EMEA Sales

Mark Gardner adds 30+ years of executive leadership and scientific expertise to Corza Medical. Mark most recently served as CEO at OmniSeq, a molecular diagnostics spinout from Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he successfully grew the company’s revenues over 4x. Previously, Mark served as General Manager of several business segments at Thermo Fisher Scientific and Life Technologies. Mark also held management positions at GE Healthcare, McKinsey, and was a pilot in the United States Navy. Mark holds a Bachelor’s in History from the United States Naval Academy, a Master’s of Business Administration (with Palmer Scholar Distinction) from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master’s in National Security Studies from Georgetown University.

Tom Testa

Chief Financial Officer

Tom Testa has over 30 years of leadership experience with the last 10 years focused on the medical device industry. Tom’s experience includes both senior financial and general management roles. Prior to joining Corza Medical, Tom was the Vice President and General Manager of Nordson Medical, which he joined following Nordson’s acquisition of the Vention Medical Advanced Technologies business, where he was President. Previously, Tom served as Chief Financial Officer for Vention Medical and GenTek, Inc, a diversified industrial holding company. Tom earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Carla da Luz Boren, J.D.

Chief Human Resources Officer

Carla da Luz Boren has over 20 years of human resources and legal experience across the life sciences and biotech sectors. Prior to Corza, she held several senior leadership level roles. Most recently, Carla served as General Counsel and Chief Human Resources Officer of Otonomy, Inc. Prior to Otonomy, Carla held senior leadership roles across various businesses and global functions at Life Technologies/Thermo Fisher, including Vice President of Human Resources, Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures & Integrations where she supported over 20 international and domestic transactions from diligence through integration. During her more than nine-year tenure at Life Technologies/Thermo Fisher, she also served as an Integration Leader and In-House Counsel. Previously, Ms. Boren was an attorney with the law firms of DLA Piper as well as Littler Mendelson. Ms. Boren earned her Juris Doctorate at University of California, Los Angeles and her Bachelor’s degree in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from University of California, Berkeley.

Victor Diaz

Senior Vice President, General Manager Global Operations

Victor has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare, medical device, and medical instrument industries. Prior to joining Corza Medical and Surgical Specialties Corporation, Victor was Vice President, Global Operations at Teleflex Medical, the medical device and instrument manufacturing division of Teleflex Corporation. During his career at Teleflex, Mr. Diaz led a staff of 4,200 and was responsible for the global manufacturing, procurement, distribution, and complete supply chain with 25 plants and 23 distribution centers in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the United States. Previously, Victor served as Vice President of Manufacturing at both Kendall Healthcare, a subsidiary of Tyco Healthcare, and Tyco Healthcare Respiratory. Victor received a BA in Chemistry from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja, California.

James Xu Shubi

Vice President, General Manager China

Prior to joining Corza Medical and Surgical Specialties in 2017 to run our China business, James was the Managing Director of Devicor Medical China. In this role, James was part of the management team that successfully spun off Johnson & Johnson’s breast care business to form Devicor. His leadership drove the doubling of revenue from 2012 to 2015, resulting in the acquisition of Devicor by Danaher. Prior to Devicor, James worked for Johnson & Johnson Medical China for 15 years, across numerous specialties including cardiovascular, orthopedics and women’s health. During his time at J&J, James was involved in businesses at various stages from start-up through sustainable growth periods. James graduated from Second Military Medical University in Shanghai, and also holds an MBA from Rutgers University School of Business.

Yong Sun

Vice President, General Manager Ophthalmology

Prior to joining Corza Medical and Surgical Specialties in 2019, Yong was VP and General Manager of Physiology, Cell and Molecular Instruments at Harvard Biosciences. Previously, he served as Vice President of Global Marketing and Americas Sales at Beaver-Visitec International, a company combining the ophthalmic business units from Becton Dickinson (BD) and Medtronic. Earlier in his career, Yong served in progressive positions at BD, including Director of Global Marketing & U.S. Sales and at Eli Lilly & Company where he was the Marketing Manager, Global Life Sciences Market & Greater China Region. Yong holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, a Master’s of Science in environmental science & engineering from Northeastern University and a Bachelor’s of Science in biochemistry from Peking University.

Korey Cicinelli

Vice President, Integrations

Korey has over 15 years of leadership and advisory experience in the medtech, pharma, and life science industries. Korey joined Corza and Surgical Specialties in 2015, leading the global supply chain function and expanding his focus to distribution, customer service, strategy, and business integration. Prior to joining Surgical Specialties, Korey worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers life sciences advisory and deals practice. While there, he led engagements across all aspects of his client organizations including buy/sell side advisory, integration strategy/execution, and corporate strategy. Korey has also held various positions with Medtronic and KPMG London. Korey earned a BA from Michigan State University and an MBA from HEC School of Management in Paris, France.

Brian Berning

Senior Vice President, Corporate Development

Brian Berning brings 20+ years of strategic leadership to Corza Medical, where he leverages his expertise in M&A, finance, and operations. Brian most recently served as the CFO at GreatCall, the leading provider of connected health solutions for seniors. He successfully guided the company through its acquisition by GTCR in 2017 and ultimate sale to Best Buy a year later for $800 million. Previously, as CFO at Human Longevity, a genomics and cellular therapy company, Brian helped raise over $300 million and establish global operations. Earlier in his career, Brian served as SVP of Finance at LPL Financial. Brian began his career with Ernst & Young, LLP where he earned his CPA. Brian holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from San Diego State University and a Master’s in Accounting from the University of Southern California.
